I’ve been cooking for over 15 years and it was my grandma Ruth who inspired my culinary desires when I was a little girl. Armed with an exceptionally sensitive palate and a creative culinary sense, she was a chef extraordinaire who created delectable things like fresh churned ice cream, authentic Chinese food and a watermelon fruit basket that she transformed into a pirate ship. I use to sit in her kitchen and watch her buzz around, introducing me to exotic spices while encouraging me to mix and measure. My grandmother was a very wise woman with a fiery Bahamian spirit. In the kitchen, my granny (who ate meat) was innovative in her approach to cooking and created tons of healthy and delicious meals for us – her family (who did not eat meat). This was a challenge my granny embraced and it is because of her that I will never lose sight of my passion for creating my everyday lifestyle. Being vegan or vegetarian isn’t just about the food; it’s a lifestyle. The way my mind, body and spirit feels is directly related to the food that I eat. Healthy lifestyle adventurer – for the last 37 years, I have lived a healthy vegetarian lifestyle. All three of my children were born and raised on a strict vegan diet. Our family’s everyday lifestyle included information from food combining and healing principles based on the ancient sciences of Ayurveda and Chinese medicine.
Availability to an endless reservoir of expert health and fitness information, and access to huge varieties of ethnic foods and global cuisines have really transformed the landscape to wellness for my family and I. It’s our birthright and yours too. We all deserve the best that life has to offer. I hope that you will take the time to explore creating your own healthy and happy everyday lifestyle.
