Fasting: Three (3) Days To A Better You

Below, you will find the three (3) day fasting schedule (plus two prep days) that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Wednesday/Thursday:
On these two days you will begin to prepare your body for the next 3 days of fasting. Prep days are not necessary but are recommended, especially if you have never fasted before. Limit or reduce exposure to the following things:

  • Watching television
  • Listening to any music (spiritual/religious music is the only exception)
  • Social settings (allow yourself to spend more time with your spirit, with yourself; get to know the inner you; abandoning or setting aside all  fear of being alone during this time)
  • do not drink liquor, wine or smoke cigarettes

NOTE: recipes coming soon

Friday (Day 1)

Fresh squeezed Watermelon and Mint juice

Breakfast:

  • Fresh Watermelon & Mint Juice
  • 2-3 pieces of Fruit (Plums, peaches, oranges, grapes, any fruit that you desire)
  • Glass of water

Lunch:

  • Mixed green Salad with Pistachios (for added protein)
  • Glass of water

(mixed nuts or fruit for snack)

Dinner:

  • Mixed green salad with sautéed Seitan
  • Fresh Pear and Carrot Juice with a hint of Kale and Ginger
  • Glass of water

Saturday (Day 2)

Breakfast:

  • Fresh Strawberry and Kiwi Juice
  • 2-3 pieces of fruit (of your choice)
  • Glass of Water

Lunch:

  • Quinoa Salad
  • Glass of water

(mixed nuts or fruit for snack)

Dinner:

  • Mixed Green Salad with baked Tempeh (or baked Salmon)
  • Fresh Celery and Carrot juice
  • Glass of water

I added about three tablespoons of sautéed Seitan for extra protein, so that I wouldn’t lose a lot of weight during this fast. The goal was to detox…

Sunday (Day 3)

Breakfast:

  • Fresh Orange and Mango (if mango is not in season use raspberries, apple or strawberries)
  • Glass of water

Lunch:

  • Mixed Green Salad with pine nuts
  • Glass of water

(mixed nuts or fruit for snack)

Dinner:

  • Mixed Green Salad with teriyaki flavored tofu
  • Fresh Beet and Apple Juice
  • Glass of water

The next morning, break your fast with a very healthy meal. It is important to give your body a few days to re-adjust back to your regular eating habits. Some of the changes you may notice as a result of this fast:

– less unhealthy food cravings
– clearer mind
– clearer skin

NOTE: drink lots of water to help flush your body out of toxins; also some people find it helpful to take a mild laxative on the last day of fasting to complete the detox. While I believe this is a good idea, it doesn’t hurt to consult your physician.

Clean mind, body, spirit!
